Nathalie Séguin
CPA CA, CIRP, DIFA
Entrepreneurial projects have been a favourite of Nathalie Séguin for a number of years. She recently convinced her employer, BDO Canada, to sell her the bulk of her files in insolvency in Quebec, and with that, she launched her own firm in insolvency and forensic accounting, Séguin Conseil Inc. Together with a full-support team, she provides her clients customized insolvency expertise.
Prior to starting her own firm, Ms. Séguin built an impressive career. After 4 years of verification at one of Canada’s largest accounting firms, she moved on to insolvency and reorganization at RSM Richter Inc., where she specialized in commercial insolvency and forensic accounting. From 1996, she organized, planned and executed a range of commercial mandates in consultation, proposals, bankruptcy and sequestration. She also intervened in a variety of forensic accounting files to conduct fraud investigations or to quantify damages. Throughout her career, she has prepared reports for insolvency files on behalf of several parties, from fiscal accounting attorneys to financial institutions. She has also often testified in court as a Licensed Insolvency Trustee representative.
Nathalie has worked with companies operating in a range of sectors, including:
- Manufacturing
Car dealerships
Textiles
Transportation
Telecommunications
Real estate and construction
Distribution/Retail sales
Hardwood and lumber drying
Nathalie holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from HEC Montréal and has been a chartered accountant since 1995. She successfully completed the Licensed Insolvency Trustee training course offered by the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals (CAIRP), and has been a Licensed Insolvency Trustee since 2005. To obtain her forensic accounting speciality, she earned her “Diploma in Investigation and Forensic Accounting” from the University of Toronto.
